The City of Niagara Falls (City) will be undertaking sanitary sewer replacement, watermain replacement and road reconstruction on Portage Rd. (from Althea St. to Thorold Stone Rd.) and Gallinger St. This contract will be carried out for the City by Peter’s Excavating Inc. at a total tendered cost of $4,223,066.50 (excluding HST). Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of November 10, 2025. Please note that the actual start date will be dependant on weather and the acquisition of all necessary permits and approvals.

The project will involve the replacement of watermain, water services (to property line), hydrants, sanitary sewers and sanitary services (to property line). Please note that the watermain, hydrants, sewers and structures may not be replaced in the same location.

Due to the scope of work involved, driveway accessibility will be affected during construction. Every effort will be made to provide advanced notice when this occurs. At times there will be some inconvenience during the construction period and the City respectfully requests your patience and co-operation.
