  • Fall 2018 Update

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

Riverview Park is complete and open to the public but is still under contractor warranty. We have found that some areas within the park (mainly at the soccer field) are experiencing minor ponding of water. This will be corrected by the contractor when site conditions become favorable for re-grading and placement of topsoil.

    Thanks for your support!

  • Summer 2018 Update: Tennis and basketball courts

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

The tennis court has been resurfaced and painted with lines for both tennis and pickleball. Nets are installed and spectator benches face both the tennis and basketball courts.

Lines have also been painted on the basketball courts (new hoops were installed earlier this year). We've added hopscotch and four-square markings as well.

  • Spring 2018 Construction Update

Construction has started again at Riverview Park and we are targeting a completion of the project by early July 2018. Now that site conditions have improved, all bare soil areas will be seeded as part of the final works. The seed will take some time to germinate and fill in. Please avoid freshly seeded areas until the grass is well established.

  • Spring 2018 Update

Riverview Park is still too wet to start work. City staff and the contractor are monitoring the site conditions to determine when it will be favourable to restart the project. We anticipate that the nicer weather will aloow us to start work in the comming weeks and be completed by earlky July 2018.

  • Winter 2018 Construction Update

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

Construction at Riverview Park has paused for the winter. Unfortunately construction could not be fully completed in 2017 but significant progress was achieved. New storm sewer pipes and catch basins have been built along with major grading (including berm removal) has been completed. The new playground equipment, fitness stations and seating areas have been installed. New trees have been planted too. Other progress has been made with parking lot and walkway construction.

We are monitoring the site conditions to determine when the contractor can remobilize to Riverview Park and finish everything off. We anticipate completion will be achieved spring 2018.

  • November Update

The contractor has made good progress with the completion of the new stormwater sewers and berm removal. Most of the gravel has been installed too. Over the next few weeks we expect that concrete curbing and asphalt paving will be completed. More site grading will occur and the playground equipment to be installed soon too! Please note the new playground equipment will be off limits until the site is safe for the public.

  • Construction to Start!

The City’s contractor Stevensville Lawn Service Inc. will be commencing with construction the week of September 18th. The first priority of construction will be installing new stormwater sewers, site grading and earth berm removals. Once construction starts the park will be fenced and become off-limits for public use. While Riverview Park is unavailable, we suggest that residents visit the newly renovated Chippawa Lions Park at 3970 Welland Street.
