The City of Niagara Falls is pleased to announce the commencement of the NS&T Trail Phase 1 Development (Kalar Road to Montrose Road) & (Meadowvale Drive to Drummond Road). This contract will be carried out by Stevensville Lawn Service Inc. at a total tendered cost of $1,455,798.00 (excluding HST).

Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-April and be completed by mid-July. However, the actual start date will depend on weather and site conditions.

During construction, underground telecommunication services to your home, such as Bell or Cogeco, may be damaged. Service repairs must be requested by the homeowner/customer directly; however, there will be no charge to you for the required repairs. For damages to Bell services, please call 1-844-225-5550. For damages to Cogeco services, please call 1-855-853-2609 or (905) 333-8809.

To ensure public safety, the trail corridor will be fenced off and inaccessible for the duration of the project. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we work to bring this exciting new trail to your neighbourhood.

Benefits of the Trail construction include:

  • Connectivity: Leveraging existing corridor connections facilitates the establishment of a comprehensive commuter trail, promoting connectivity across the region.
  • Direct Access to Facilities: The trail provides direct access to park facilities and existing trail networks, including designated seating areas for user convenience.
  • Minimal Disruption: Utilizing the existing rail bed minimizes disruptions to the corridor, ensuring a streamlined construction process with minimal community impact.
  • Natural Buffer: In many locations, the presence of natural vegetation within and along the corridor provides a natural buffer to adjacent residential developments and main throughways.
  • Supplemental Plantings: As part of the project scope, supplemental plantings will be installed to maintain these buffer treatments for neighbours of the proposed trail.
  • Educational Signage: We plan to install educational signage along the rail corridor to provide historical context and enrich the trail experience for users.

Thank you!
