Let me tell you about my night in St Catharines on Easter Weekend --

by corvidlou, over 3 years ago

I arrived to St. Catharines around 6pm to meet up with an artist. Many months ago, I applied to show work at Mahtay Cafe, and today we started the planning stages of our show. After speaking with her, I was able to drink kombucha brewed right here in the city while working on personal projects in this hub. When I finished, I walked south on St. Paul Street, and immediately heard live music. Walking a little further, I realised it was coming from the streets: a full electric live band, playing as a cohesive unit. Wow! I entered Plan B... Continue reading

    Pathways and Trails

by mucciared, over 3 years ago

One of the things I miss most about St. Catharines are all the trails and paths around the city.  My favourite is Walker's Creek which cuts through the north end and joins the Waterfront trail.

I came across a pathway near St. Mike's High School that cuts into a new neighbourhood.  I would like to see all new subdivisions have these paths or trails (even better if they follow a brook/creek) with all of them connected so residents can take a long run/walk/bike ride.

    Silence the Trains

by webbfire2004, over 3 years ago

Greetings, I moved into the Fernwood subdivision just over a year ago and had I known the rail crossing at Lundys lane and Garner road were as active as they are throughout the night especially and that trains sound their air horns at both crossings I would never have moved there. I know there are level crossings about one kilometer east where they do not sound their horns. There are hundreds of homes and families here in the Fernwood subdivision so I think it is time arrangements were made to silence the trains at these... Continue reading

    The Sidewalk to Nowhere

by AlO, over 3 years ago

I have lived in Chippawa my whole life. The residents love to walk and bicycle. There used to be a bike / walking path on the east side of Portage Road that ran from Chippawa to the Dufferin Islands area. This path was destroyed many years age when a watermain project took place. It was never replaced.

Presently, a short stretch of sidewalk is in place on the west side of Portage Road from Norton Street to the entrance of Marineland where it abruptly ends. Cyclists and walkers are forced to use the roadway if they wish to continue. This... Continue reading

    Well Lit walkways & pathways

by Vreynoso, over 3 years ago

We love to go for a night stroll along the Falls but there are spots or areas that make us feel unsafe.

The City can look into adding more light posts or pathway lights along the Falls specially at the North end almost across the American Falls.

The same situation at the pathway to/from the big  parking lot going to/coming from  Queen Vctoria Park (west side of the road). The pathway is dark. There sre no lamp posts or lighting system  to make the pathway safe for walking.

Well lit walkways and pathways will deter crime and make people love... Continue reading

    tax

by tinman, over 3 years ago

First i feel that the hated tourism tax is hurting the city also if they are racking in all this money why then does the city have to put tax payers money into tourism Second fix all the pot holes in the tourist areas as tourism is all we have .and remove all the unfinished and burnt out buildings the tourists have to pass.We are so used to them after all these years of neglect and nobody  getting them fixed up

    make the city better!

by spiker, over 3 years ago

Hi I think we could make the city better by adding more sightseeing buses. Also we could make it better by adding places where people take pictures of you,if you don't have that already

    courthouse

by Chelsea123, over 3 years ago

We need a courthouse in niagara falls not everyone drives and taking a bus all the way to welland and spending all day just to file papers or something is really annoying. If we can't get a courthouse here we atleast need more options for free legal advise in niagara falls so that people don't waste their whole day going to welland because something wasn't filled out right or something was missing from paperwork.
