Pathways and Trails

by mucciared,

One of the things I miss most about St. Catharines are all the trails and paths around the city.  My favourite is Walker's Creek which cuts through the north end and joins the Waterfront trail.

I came across a pathway near St. Mike's High School that cuts into a new neighbourhood.  I would like to see all new subdivisions have these paths or trails (even better if they follow a brook/creek) with all of them connected so residents can take a long run/walk/bike ride.

Thanks so much for your comments! We love trails as well! And we agree that it makes sense for new subdivisions to plan and develop trails before the subdivision goes in as they did in Warren Woods as you mentioned. We are passing your comment along to our Planning Department. We are also pleased to tell you that two new trail sections are being created this spring/summer in Niagara Falls. One is a new paved section of the Millennium Trail that will run from Lundy’s Lane to Drummond Road, along the Hydro Canal. The other is the George Bukator Park Trail project which will improve the existing nature trail that links the east and west parking lots in George Bukator Park. This section of trail is approximately 2km long and will have a soft surface (soil and wood chip.) The improved George Bukator Trail will provide residents with greater access to Welland River shoreline for recreational purposes.
