John N. Allan Park Tennis and Basketball Improvements Project

Consultation has concluded

In the 2019 Capital Budget Niagara Falls City Council approved funding to advance the implementation of the recommendations of the City of Niagara Falls Tennis and Basketball Service Delivery Review.

As part of this plan, four (4) new premium tennis courts (with pickleball lines) are being constructed at John N. Allan Park. The existing basketball court at the park is also receiving an upgrade and be converted to a full multi-purpose basketball /street hockey court.

Other works are being planned within the park to support the tennis and basketball improvements, including:

  • Parking lot upgrades
  • New drainage catch basins
  • Accessible walkways
  • Seating improvements
  • Relocation of the existing natural ice skating area
  • Landscaping

    Construction is done now and the tennis nets are going up. Come check out the courts that you've been waiting for!

    The contractor recently sprayed the seeding on the ground so please stay on the pathways until the grass has grown thick and green.

  • Construction Near Complete!

    Construction is nearing completion with the tennis and basketball courts! Finishing touches are going on for the fencing, basketball goals, line painting, site grading and parking lot barriers. Once work has been completed construction fencing will be removed and the tennis nets will be installed for play.

  • Spring 2020 Update

    Construction has been stopped due to COVID-19 restrictions. Prior to the shutdown, progress was being made on site drainage and parking lot works.

    Construction will resume when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

  • Fall 2019/ Spring 2020

    Work is anticipated to commence October 2019 with completion Spring 2020. During this period of time effected areas of the park will be closed to the public.

    An artistic concept sketch has been provided for information purposes. Some further refinements to the plan are currently in progress.
