Glengate Park Update

Glengate Park is located in the north end of Niagara Falls between Pettit Avenue and Crawford Street, near the intersection of Dorchester and Thorold Stone Roads. It features a large open field with both pine and maple trees, an informal baseball backstop, tennis courts and a playground.

A new recreational feature is coming to Glengate Park! You now have a great opportunity to shape your neighbourhood for years to come.

Would you like to see any of the following features at Glengate Park?

  • accessible walking trail
  • natural ice skating rink
  • fitness stations/bench fit
  • children's court and ball games
  • picnic area
  • informal baseball backstops (for non-league play)
  • informal soccer field with goals (for non-league play)

Of course, we're also open to your suggestions.

Given the close proximity of four nearby tennis courts slated for refurbishment, City Council has accepted Staff recommendations to increase the variety of recreational offerings in the community and remove rather than repair the existing tennis courts at Glengate Park. These recommendations were made following the 2017 Tennis and Basketball Service Delivery Review, which was also approved by Council.

The four tennis courts remaining in the area are all within walking distance to Glengate Park (4190 Pettit Ave):

  • E.E. Mitchelson Park (1.2 km away)
  • Lind Sommerville Park (800 m away)
  • Meadowvale Park (1 km away)
  • Cherry Hill Park (1.3 km away)

You can also view maps of the Glengate Park Area tennis courts and existing amenities at Glengate Park in our Document Library (at right).

We had an outstanding response to the public consultation! Thanks to everyone for their contribution to the planning of Glengate Park!

The timing of any work at Glengate Park will be subject to future budget approval by Niagara Falls City Council.
