The City of Niagara Falls has retained CIMA+, OMC Landscape Architects, and Moon-Matz to plan and design the reconstruction of Ferry Street from Ellen Avenue to Stanley Avenue.
This project is the third implementation phase in the Victoria Centre Streetscape Master Plan. This phase includes full road reconstruction and decorative streetscape finishes on Ferry Street from the limit of Phase 2 (West of Ellen Avenue) to Stanley Avenue.
Construction work on this project began in April 2024.
To minimize the impact on the tourism industry and local businesses in the area, the project has been staged into two construction periods as follows:
Stage 1: April 2024 – June 28, 2024
Stage 2: September (after Labour Day) – December 2024
No construction work will be permitted from July 1st to Labour Day. Ferry Street will be fully re-opened during this time with unrestricted access to all properties and businesses. Disturbed areas of the roadway and sidewalk will be restored with hot-mix asphalt pavement.
Road Closure:
Due to the location and depth of the proposed subsurface infrastructure, impacts on traffic flow will be unavoidable. A road closure that limits through traffic is required in order to complete the deep underground servicing. Following the completion of the main underground work, Ferry Street will be returned to two-way traffic with daily localized closures for the installation of sanitary and water services. These closures will be limited to the specific site where the contractor is connecting a service. After hours and on weekends, two-way traffic will be reinstated.
